Regeneration by Bajans, for Bajans
WIRRED works alongside communities across Barbados to restore degraded lands through hands-on projects, youth education, and school programs. From the earliest stages of each project, we work alongside community leaders to shape the decisions that affect the places and people around them. This collaborative approach creates local jobs, supports community leadership, and helps ensure regeneration efforts reflect local priorities.

From guided tours to Bajan Bee experiences, we introduce schoolchildren to nature while building environmental awareness from an early age. We have trained hundreds of residents, including 267 Caribbeans certified in Permaculture Design.
Community members also take part in citizen science initiatives, from crab monitoring to bird watching, strengthening their connection to conservation. Together, these efforts build local leadership, protect biodiversity, and enhance coastal resilience across the island.
